That is a big question

Well, I will try to right some points tomorrow when I get up. Most possibly get up at lunch time because I will watch the Euro-Cup (coming 3 hours later, Turkey vs Croatia today )

The best way for me is check "I want to buy" section frequently on all domain / webmaster forums I joined. Lots of buy requests are from end users there

2) Who Usually Watches The Domain Name Aftermarket?
No doubt.. it is domainers. I think over 80% aftermarket watchers are domainers

3) Where Is The Best Place To Sell Your Domain Names?
For me:
By Quality (Money / profit to me) is Sedo
By Quantity is Domain forums

I think most of the answers were given ny julian, i would just like to add to the answer of the first question, you can also research the posibility by just minitering the simmilar doamin's statistics.

On the point of reaching end users:
there are several ways depending on the domain and its potential market.

you have to think of your domain and consider who your potential buyer is, sometimes you can advertise to that market easily, forums can be good for this, for example

i purchased a premium domain that was related to whole sale or trade supplies, i searched and found quite a big wholesale supply forum, i posted the domain for sale there and gave the URL of the auction site i had it listed for sale with.

the domain cost me $120, i had received several appraisals at low to mid $xxx. marketing the domain in this way i sold it for $1370.

another domain i registered was applicable to the French accommodation market.
i searched for hotels and accommodation in the niche the domain applied to both on the internet and via directories.
i contacted potential buyers and again gave them the link to the auction listing.
the domain sold for 880 euros, it cost me reg fee.

I'm about to put this to the test again, i have been buying dictionary domains for a while now, this time I'm going to host them, optimize and promote for related keywords. get top SERPS, and then market them as above, it will be interesting to see the results.

but when it all comes down to it, the best way to get end user prices, is to maret your domain to the potential end user.
