Cool Sedo and 4 Letter domains

Hey,

I was wondering why some domains on Sedo seem to never get to auction. They just sit there. Is it because you basically have to buy their featured listing or the $39 dollar featured domain service? I've seen some really silly domains go to auction and the owner has good bids and he barely owned it for a few weeks. Which goes against ICANN to push over but that's what I see. Some of these domains are stupid as hell and with no content and they are at auction. Any ideas about this. Thanks.

My relation to the 4 letter domains is that I have a bunch of them and I don't want to use Sedo if they just sit there for several months, but I'm willing if someone can verify how it's done on Sedo. Meaning will you never get seen unless you pay for more services or listing features.

Hi CyberQuest,
Welcome to SDNForum!

What your find on Sedo is the fact... I don't think any of us like it but can not change it

To answer your question:
As Sedo's TOS, you can send your domain for a 7 days auction only if you get an offer for your domain. The starting price is the reserve and you can not set a higher reserve, which means you are obligated to sell it if no more bidders.

So the KEY is get Sedo offers, no relation to it is a ugly or pretty name, no relation to you buy the $39 feature listing or lot.

You may get an offer because of somebody does like your name, also you may get an offer because of you invite offers for your domains on different domain forums... et al

If you are sure that your domain is worthy more than $60, and you are willing to let the market decide the value of your domains, why not try our Take Sedo offers section? (Yeah, you need more posts before can start a thread there )

Good luck to your business!

Thanks for the reply's.

I am new to domaining. I would like to make it a career actually but it's kinda hard to figure out for newbie. I was aware not to get caught up with bidding battles but I admit I paid too much for some of the 4 letters I got. So I'm going to get traffic to them first before I let them go.

This is an example of what I saw at Sedo. Some guy from Austria has a domain at auction that he just created on 8/8/08. It's going for over 500 eur. I can't figure it out cause most forums state you can't just create a new name and expect it to sell but his is, with no content whatsoever. It was playpokerat.com. He technically can't even push it over to a buyer for 60 days after creation. I notice a lot of people do the same but several places like Pool know the ICANN rules and won't let you do this with your domains if you try to sell through them. I've got officialmp3.com for instance. No traffic at Sedo. It's buried under a hay stack. But it's valid PR3, has some Alexa moving lower and lower and like 17,000 backlinks in yahoo and content but no viewers at Sedo. I think it's a lot more brandable than playpokerat.

That's why I'm getting ready to spend $69 for 30 days at Sedo and let it ride with all their, I think like 5 websites globally. But is it worth it. I mean shelling out $39 or $69 a domain seems to be too high.

Dunno guys...

What do you all think.

if you list the domain at sedo with a $60 starting price i will bid $60, you can then select to send it to auction.

Like Julian said, it will go to the highest bidder.

thats the best way to get them running, i had cv8.com i sent it to sedo and it did $1500.

if you want me to start the above domain PM me the link

In fact many Registrar allow you to PUSh a new registrated domain to another account in their system, such as Enom, Dynadot, Directi... and more (Except godaddy). The 60 days limitation period is for transfer, not for PUSH.

To spend $39 buying a Sedo feature list or not, I can not give you the answer. I can just say that I don't have successfull experience on this. You may have a look of my experience on Sedo at My experience: sell domains on Sedo

It is not a easy task to be a full time domainer, but that is our dream

Thank you nam2000,

I may just do that. Let me think about it for a day. I am reading many of Julian's posts to learn as much as I can. I paid a lot more than $60 at auction but it was probably my stupidity as a first time domainer that made me bid a price that was high but as with all domaining I guess we have to cut our losses. I wonder what you think of the domain value if you would, considering the market and the name and it's links, PR, etc...

Just curious.

Thank you for the generous offer. I will await your reply and probably decide to depart with my beloved officialmp3

to be honest if i started it at $60 and was the highest bidder i wouldnt be the happiest man alive, that would be a max for me, but to be fair to you i think it will do better
